Answer: Forty-five thousand six hundred seventy-eight.

Answer: The place value of 7 in 37,542 is 7,000 (seven thousand).

Q3. Arrange in ascending order: 8,765; 8,567; 8,675; 8,756

Answer: 8,567 < 8,675 < 8,756 < 8,765

Chapter 4: Parts and Wholes (Fractions)

Q1. What fraction of the circle is shaded if 3 out of 8 parts are colored?

Answer: 3/8 (three-eighths) of the circle is shaded.

Q2. Which is greater: 2/5 or 3/7?

Answer: To compare fractions:

2/5 = 14/35 and 3/7 = 15/35

Since 15/35 > 14/35, therefore 3/7 > 2/5

Q3. Add: 1/4 + 2/4

Answer: 1/4 + 2/4 = (1+2)/4 = 3/4

Chapter 6: Be My Multiple, I'll be Your Factor

Q1. Find the factors of 12.

Answer: The factors of 12 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12

Because: 1×12=12, 2×6=12, 3×4=12

Answer: 3 kg 500 g = 3,000 g + 500 g = 3,500 g

Q2. How many meters are there in 2 km 750 m?

Answer: 2 km 750 m = 2,000 m + 750 m = 2,750 m

Q3. Which is heavier: 2 kg 800 g or 2,750 g?

Answer:

2 kg 800 g = 2,800 g

Since 2,800 g > 2,750 g, therefore 2 kg 800 g is heavier.

Chapter 11: Area and its Boundary

Q1. Find the area of a rectangle with length 8 cm and breadth 5 cm.

Answer: Area of rectangle = length × breadth = 8 × 5 = 40 sq cm

Q2. What is the perimeter of a square with side 6 cm?

Answer: Perimeter of square = 4 × side = 4 × 6 = 24 cm

Q3. A rectangular garden is 12 m long and 8 m wide. Find its area and perimeter.

Answer:

Area = 12 × 8 = 96 sq m

Perimeter = 2 × (12 + 8) = 2 × 20 = 40 m
